ROLEMASTER: MAGESTORM
SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS:
Pentium 90
16 MB RAM
20 MB available hard drive space
Windows 95
Microsoft Direct X (version 2) run-time files----available in the download section.
BASIC GAME PLAY:
This is a brief outline using the basic functions of the game to get you on your way to playing Magestorm.
You will be able to bias pools, conquer shrines, attack and defend yourself against your opponents. Please
be aware that Magestorm has extensive spells and configuration patterns. Therefore it is in your best
interest to read the entire manual available in the manual directory under the Magestorm game.
When starting Magestorm, you will enter a virtual study. This is where you will click on particular items to
choose your game options (if you let your mouse pointer rest on a particular item, the item will
lighten and text will appear telling you what that item does):
Gem Dice=Configure Character
Crystal Ball=Configure Game
Book on top shelf=Connect Online
Book on third shelf=Enter Tavern
Pillar/Statue=Select Character
Globe=Single Player
Door=Exit Magestorm
Begin by clicking on the gem dice located on the table. Choose your name, profession & appearance.
When choosing your profession, keep in mind the different powers and spells available to each.
Clerics are the healers and protectors; their spells are strongest in blessing and prayers, healing and
resurrecting. Magicians are the fighters; they have the most powerful spells for attacking. Mentalists use
the power of their mind to work against opponents; they are strongest in spells that affect your mental
capabilities. Clerics and mentalists are strongest in destroying and repairing shrines. Magicians and
mentalists are strongest in biasing earthblood pools. After determining your character, reroll the numbers
until you are satisfied with the point distribution. Click on Save to keep your choices and then click on Exit
to enter the Tavern.
After exiting, click on the book on the top shelf (Connect Online). This will bring you to the Tavern. In the
Tavern, you can see other players in Magestorm. To enter a game, click on Arena. Highlight
the game you wish to enter by clicking on it. Click on Show to choose your team (Order, Balance, Chaos)
and click on Enter to start playing. If no games are available, click on Create. Choose your arena to play,
and then click on Launch. When ready to start the game, click on Enter.
You will be placed in the game standing in your shrine. You will want to choose your spells early
on by clicking on the Spells icon at the bottom of the screen. Select keys 1-10 in accordance with double
clicking on the spell in the list provided. Switch spells by hitting the number for the spell you want to use.
To bias pools, you simply need to stand in it. Biasing a pool to your team makes you and your teammates
more powerful; the more earthblood pools you control, the stronger you are. To conquer a shrine, stand and
face the shrine ball until it is destroyed (do the same to repair a shrine). When you approach a shrine or
enter a pool, a meter will appear at the top left of your screen, letting you know the percentage of power it
has. You want to stay in the pool until it is 100% powered by your team. You want to stand at the shrine
ball until it is completely destroyed or powered a full 100%. You are open to any and all attacks/spells
while you are biasing pools and conquering shrines.
If you are killed, you can resurrect yourself by pressing the Spacebar, as long as your shrine has not been
destroyed. You lose experience points when you resurrect yourself. Clerics that are Level 2 and above
have the ability to resurrect their teammates. This is most important if your shrine has already been
destroyed, as you cannot resurrect yourself. You lose no experience points when a cleric resurrects you.
A match is a three-sided battle that usually does not end until one team conquers the other two. A match is
over when all the opposing teams' shrines have been destroyed and not been repaired in time (after all
shrines have been conquered, players have 30 seconds to repair their shrine before victory is declared).
Some arenas have time limits, so if no team has conquered all the shrines within that time, the game is over
and no winner is declared. You will gain experience points (and thus higher levels) if you are able to win
the game. Your experience points, character levels, and spells carry from game to game.
